The new "Bible study" kit will include a cool "What the Bible Really, REALLY Says", pocket-sized picture book, maybe a theocratic coloring book and complimentary box of crayons, a set of Biblical action figures, and a "Jehovah's Happy People" video game. Sounds kind of fun actually...you can play with the action figures or color discreetly during meetings

I've read your story and it is sad and tragic and I feel for you. Equally tragic is the fact that you think you cannot live without this organization, but to each his/her own. It is certainly not for me.
This statement I found tells all. It says to me that you are copletely indoctrinated into the idea of a FDS who can do no wrong in your eyes.
I think the UN stuff is just completely blown out of proportion! But each of us will view this the way we are ready to view it.
The Revelation book and other lit. clearly identified the UN as the Wild Beast, an enemy of the kingdom of God. If I as a Witness cannot go into a church even for a wedding or funeral, how can any Witnesses rationalize the WTS joinging this organization AND PROMOTING IT - WITHOUT TELLING THE PUBLISHERS WHAT WAS GOING ON . If what they were doing was so innocent, why wasn't it revealed to the R&F untial AFTER it hit the newspapers? THEN, only to those who inquired? (I smell fish here).
Like I said, that organization is not for me. But if you feel it's for you that's your choice.
Lastly, and I mean this in all sincerity from one woman and human being to another; Get some counseling. Talk to a neutral party and get to know and understand YOU as an individual. In the org. you only understand you as a part of the whole (hence the reason trekkies refer to it as the borg - they are all one, assimilation is the only way to be a part of the whole).
in the past i visited bethel and got to 'tour' around.
here men & women worked their asses off every single day - a full 8 & 1/2 hours a day.
they had to make sure they were up at the crack of dawn to attend the reading of the day text.
The GB are control freaks and anything they can do to belittle people and make them suffer for the sake of the so-called kingdumb makes them feel powerful. I know children who receive a $40 allowance every week. And here they have grown people living in poverty while providing free labor to produce books and mags that will be sold worldwide and caring for the grounds and staff including the high-and-mighty GB . How can they say this is not a cult? R&F JW'S will do ANYTHING THEY SAY - NO MATTER HOW F'ING RIDICULOUS IT IS!!!

so me, matt and alllll of our friends were at the blue monkey (a bar in memphis), and we were just sitting around, munching on pizza and throwing back beers.
all in all, it was great.
i basically just wanted to get the point through that i was perfectly happy and that i didn't need the dubs to have fun and have friends.

have you any experience of families whose sons have gone off to bethel and then decided to not have any more contact with their family and jws at all very soon after returning?.
i ask this question because i know of two families where this has been the case.. the first family had three sons who one after the other went to the london bether to 'serve' within a couple of years of eachother.. after three years there all three returned home completely different people.
they then left home, left dub land, two married non jws and another lives with his girlfriend.

To the thread though; I know of 1 ex-bethalite who turned apostate. Very intelligent young man, could have gone to college but was recruited to the full-time-magazine sales service at about 19 yo by his mother. Then went to Bethel and was asked to leave. I agree with the character comment. I can't imagine him finding out it wasn't the truth and just sticking around for the hell of it. The other two from our cong. who went came back changed people. You could tell something was wrong but they wouldn't talk about it.
It's funny, I THOUGHT JW's were a cult after I left. Now the evidence is overwhelming! The GB is getting worse and worse.

i remember going to the assemblies and conventions and feeling encouraged by the information that was presented.
in hindsight, i may have just felt that way because that's how you were supposed to feel.
i was a 100% brainwashed fool for many years, if the gb said it, i did, i felt it and i believed it .
I remember also thinking how well organized and how efficiently the conventions were run, from food service through security. I know now that they weren't any more organized than any other type of convention. I just believed these things because I was told to believe them and because they were pounded into my head from the podium. "We are Jehovah's people and our fellowship and brotherly love enable us to work together in a way that nobody else can." Bullsh*t! I've been to many other kinds of conventions since leaving the Borg, and most of them have been just as organized.
Dag sith, I forgot all about that. I attend a few large trade shows a year and they are just as organized if not more so than the conventions and such. It's just mind boggling what big liars the GB are. But with their limited experience and exposure to THE REAL WORLD they probably believe themselves.
